Advanced AI & Digital Health Certificate Program for High School Students

Designed for motivated high school students who are ready to move beyond foundational bioinformatics and AI/ML, this special-edition cohort connects advanced artificial intelligence with sleep medicine, wearable technology, and digital health.
A limited number of students are selected for each eight-week cohort. Through four certificate courses, learners develop practical fluency across large language models, agentic AI, sleep science, wearable data, and data-driven healthcare.
After successfully completing the required coursework and assessments, students will receive four Stanford Genetics certificates:
- Algorithmic Thinking with LLMs for Data-Driven Medicine
- Introduction to Sleep Medicine
- Agentic AI for Healthcare
- Introduction to Wearable Technology in Digital Health (Wearable Lab)
WHO SHOULD APPLY
Motivated high school students who are interested in advanced AI, biomedical data, sleep medicine, wearable technology, or digital health. This cohort is best suited to learners who already have foundational exposure to bioinformatics, data science, and AI/ML.

ADMISSIONS & TUITION
Applications are reviewed for upcoming eight-week cohorts. Admission and cohort placement are based on readiness, program fit, and available capacity.
Application fee: $0
Program fee after acceptance: $2,000
Combined certificate value: $3,200
Special cohort savings: $1200 in savings, plus interactive live lectures and office-hour sessions.
Accepted students receive cohort-specific schedules and enrollment instructions.

Use large language models as structured reasoning partners for biomedical and clinical data problems, with practical workflows in Jupyter notebooks.

Build a foundation in sleep physiology, circadian biology, sleep measurement, and their connections to health and data-driven medicine.
Certificate 03
Agentic AI for Healthcare
Explore how AI agents plan, retrieve information, use tools, coordinate tasks, and support healthcare and research responsibly.
Certificate 04
Introduction to Wearable Technology in Digital Health (Wearable Lab)
Explore wearable sensors, longitudinal health data, and digital biomarkers for biomedical research, prevention, and digital health.
Recommended preparation: begin with the foundations
This is an advanced cohort. Students who are new to Stanford Data Ocean are strongly encouraged to first complete our foundational Bioinformatics/Data Science and AI/ML certificate program before applying.
Recommended foundational certificates:
- Fundamentals of Data Science in Precision Medicine and Cloud Computing
- Fundamentals of AI/ML in Precision Medicine
Applicants with equivalent preparation may still apply. Readiness is reviewed individually during the admissions process.
